“I’m Kristin, an illustrator from Norway, with a big passion for all things nature. Mainly working with watercolor and gouache, so making a blanket design was such a fun experience!
Usually when creating, nature is represented in one way or another. When working on this design, it was also important to me to have nature included, with different animals and plants. I wanted the design to give a feeling of adventure and freedom, but also give cosy vibes with the colors chosen.
In autumn one of my favorite activities is collecting fallen leaves from different trees like oak, maple and birch. Those forest trips were the main inspiration for this design, and hopefully maybe inspire others to go on their own little adventures!”
Kristin focuses on my storytelling through the illustrations she creates, and along this journey she has developed a big passion for children’s books.
Her work often portrays animals in nature with a focus on calmness and a soft colour palette.
Kristin has a bachelor’s in graphic design and attended Norges Kreative Høyskole and Southampton Solent University. She lived in both Oslo and England while studying but is currently settled in her hometown, Arendal. You can see more of Kristin’s work HERE.

“Leaf Collector” Blanket – A Knitted Artwork by Kristin Askland
“I’d rather be in the forest collecting leaves.”- Throughout art and cultural history, the forest has been depicted as a sacred space of sanctuary, growth, and renewal. A collection of leaves, carefully chosen and preserved, serves as a tangible blessing—a memento of a moment of peace, a symbol of life’s beautiful, cyclical rhythm, an appreciation of the changing seasons, and a talisman of nature’s enduring presence. This connection to the wild is not merely symbolic; it is intrinsically tied to our well-being. The modern concept of shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” validates what we intuitively know: immersing ourselves in nature reduces stress and restores our sense of calm. Kristin’s ‘Leaf Collector’ functions as a proxy for this restorative experience. Rendered in the honest and gentle medium of 100% organic cotton, it becomes a portable sanctuary, a piece of the forest’s quietude that we can bring into our homes and wrap around ourselves. “Leaf Collector” is an offering of peace—a blessing for a new life to grow, grounded and serene—an invitation to be wrapped in the safety of pure, organic materials.
Ultimately, ‘Leaf Collector’ is both a canvas and a cocoon. It captures the artist’s vision of finding beauty in the overlooked details of the natural world and, in doing so, offers a piece of the forest’s quiet blessing, ready to bring comfort and tranquillity into your life.”
As you consider bringing this piece into your life, we offer these blessings to go with it:
May it wrap your loved ones in warmth, safety, and the comfort of impeccable design.
Like the collected leaves, may your life be filled with growth, abundance, and beautiful moments gathered along the way.
And may it serve as a daily reminder that art is not just to be viewed but to be lived with, to be touched, and to be cherished.
To acquire the “Leaf Collector” is to invite a story of art, nature, and comfort into your home. It is a wish for a life well-lived and beautifully curated. We are thrilled to share it with you.
Material
This knitwear, like all of our quality Little Good Knits, should be treated as a piece of wearable art. It is built to be collectible and last for decades.
Single-use plastics are no longer used in any of our packaging or in the way we make our products. This helps get rid of microplastics from your life and the world around you. It protects our fertility, cuts down on pollution, saves resources, protects water quality and sea life, and can improve the overall sustainability of businesses and industries.
100% organic cotton is ideal for pregnancy care, babies, kids and people with sensitive skin. It has good air permeability, keeps warm, absorbs sweat and dries quickly, is not sticky or greasy, and does not generate static electricity. Because there is no chemical residue in the production and process, it will not induce allergies, asthma or atopic dermatitis. 100% organic cotton is exceptionally soft and comfy, with no irritation, and is ideal for baby’s skin. In addition, it can help prevent eczema in children. Compared with other chemical fibre materials, organic cotton is more environmentally friendly, and the degradation time is relatively short. In general, organic cotton is more durable than regular cotton. Because its strands are stronger, it can last longer and be washed and worn more often.
100% organic cotton is cotton that is grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, growth regulators and other synthetic substances. The seeds were never genetically engineered. This kind of planting aids in maintaining the ecosystem’s equilibrium and the quality of the soil, resulting in a lower environmental impact. We also always choose setups that grow organic cotton in conjunction with community development projects that make local people’s lives better.
